
William Harold Combs, 85, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away November 5, 2016 at Springmill Meadows, Indianapolis. Funeral service will be held at Harry Moore Chapel/Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis on November 11, 2016 at 12:30 pm. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, Indiana.
Harold was born in Clemens, Kentucky on July 27, 1931 to Hurkus and Ruth (Oakes) Combs. He spent his childhood in Kentucky before joining the military, serving during the Korean War.
He married Maxine Baker in October 1950 and they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where they had three children: Monty (Betsy) Combs, Speedway, Indiana; Rick (Beth) Combs, Advance, Indiana and Cheryl Stapleton. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine and his daughter, Cheryl.
He married Shirley Jean Murrie Skirvin in September 1988 and they enjoyed spending time after retirement in their RV at Old Mill Run Campground for over 25 years and many years wintering in Florida, golfing daily.
Harold is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his siblings: Wanda Bobbitt, Riverside, Ohio; Betty Overbee, Carey, Ohio; Wilma Dean Griever, Huber Heights, Ohio; Hurkus (Freeda) Combs, Lisbon, Ohio; Phyllis (Ben) Johnson, Carlisle, Ohio; Dennis (Evelyn) Combs, Middletown, Ohio.
Also surviving are step-children: Larry (Donna) Smith, Bradenton, Florida; Mary Lynn (Todd) Johnson, Aurora, Illinois; Jan Skirvin, St. Petersburg, Florida; Sherri (Mark) Lawson, Indianapolis, Indiana; Bill (Janine) Skirvin, Indianapolis, Indiana; Julie (Ted) Hueckstaedt, Streamwood, Illinois.
Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews will miss their loving Grandpa.
